Peoria Clothing Drive

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

 

Insha’Allah, the Islamic Center of Peoria is holding our Annual Clothing Drive in coordination with Helping Hand. The clothing drive will be on Saturday June 12th from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Due to COVID restrictions, this year’s drive will need additional steps from our community in order to meet COVID protocols. The safety of our donors, volunteers, and HHRD staff are crucial to us. Following is a set of guidelines in the post-COVID-19 situation:

Donations will be accepted by appointment ONLY:

  • Call from 9a.m. to 5p.m. or Text any time to Amna Saeed: 630-440-0794
  • Donations will be collected in the Gym area of ICP 4125 W. Charter Oak Rd, Peoria, IL 61615.
  • Donors will be required to Wash, Iron/Fold, Sort the items at home and bring to put in our labeled boxes by themselves. Our team will facilitate them. Unsorted clothes will not be accepted. 
  • Donate Only New or Gently used Clean Clothes/Items, (not torn, ripped, stained or damaged), to be given as “GIFT”.
  • Double check before bringing & follow the list of acceptable items below
  • Use Face Mask, Gloves, Hand Sanitizer and Maintain Social Distancing while in ICP.
  • If you have symptoms or anyone in your close contacts is tested positive for COVID-19, please postpone your visit, even if you are asymptomatic.
  • Please donate $20/family to help in the shipping cost. The donation box will be marked where you can drop your donation or feel free to give it to any member of the executive committee.
  • Please bring the donated clothes ONLY from Saturday, June 12th from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

List of items acceptable for donation: 

Pack into separate plastic bags (small or medium size) & Label as follows: 

  1. Men/Boys (2+ years): Pant, Shirt, Suit, Belt, Thobe.
  2. Women/Girls (2+ years): Pant, Shirt, Skirt, Legging, Tops, Hijab, Abaya, Handbags, Purse, Jewelry.
  3. Desi Men: Shalwar Kameez, Kurta, Pajama, Sherwani, Lungi.
  4. Desi Women: Dupatta, Scarf, Shawl, Shalwar Kameez, Sari, Wedding/Party Dresses (suite together).
  5. Baby Clothes (under 2 years): All types of Clothes, Diapers, Wrap, Baby Blanket.
  6. Winter (all genders): Jackets, Sweaters, Coats, Hoodies, Muffler, Gloves, Caps, Socks.
  7. Shoes : All types and sizes (tied-up in pairs).
  8. Beddings: Bed Sheet, Pillow Cover, Towel, Prayer Mat.
  9. Blankets: including Comforters
  10. School Supplies: Backpack, Pencils, Markers, Crayons, Sharpeners, File Folders, etc.
  11. Toys: All types (no electronics & batteries).
  12. Hygiene: Sanitary Pads, Tooth Brushes, Nail Clippers, Comb, Hair Brushes, Adult Diapers.
  13. Mobility Aid: Wheel Chair, Crutches, Walker, etc.

X• Used Undergarments

X• Any Type of Liquid / Gel

X• Medicine & Supplements

X• Any kind of Books, Copies & CD/DVD

X• Glass, Home Decor & Electronic Items
