Al-Imām ibn Rajab al-Hambali [may Allāh bestow mercy upon him]

“Reaching the [blessed] month of Ramadān and fasting therein, is a great blessing for the one whom Allāh has decreed upon.”

Latāif al-Ma‘ārif | Page 280 | Al-Imām ibn Rajab al-Hambali [may Allāh bestow mercy upon him]

When the Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ saw the crescent moon, he would say:

اللَّهُمَّ أَهْلِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْيُمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ

“O’ Allāh, permit it over us with blessings, faith, safety and Islām. My Lord and your Lord is Allāh.”

Welcoming Ramadhan – Sheikh Ibn Baz

We are welcoming a noble and blessed month.

The month of fasting and night prayers.

The month of the recitation of the Qur’ān.

The month in which good deeds are multiplied,

and evil deeds are expiated.

The month of racing towards various acts of obedience and competing with one another in goodness.

The month in which Allāh has made fasting obligatory and night prayers voluntary.

The Prophet ﷺ said regarding it: “When the month of Ramaḍān enters, the gates of Jannah are opened, the gates of the Hellfire are closed and the Shayāṭīn are chained.”

And the Prophet ﷺ said: “When the month of Ramaḍān enters, the gates of Mercy are opened.”

In another narration: “The gates of the heavens (are opened).” And this gives glad tidings,

and that Allāh, the Exalted bestows various blessings upon His ‘ibād (worshipers) and guides them to various acts of obedience that ascend to the heavens while these gates are open.

How to know when the deeds are being accepted?

Ibn Rajab رحمه الله said:
Whoever does an act of obedience – out of the many acts of obedience – and completes it:
The sign of it being accepted is that he follows it with another act of obedience.
And the sign of it being rejected is that he follows it with an act of disobedience.”
