Full-Time Imam Position Announcement

Position Overview

ICP is seeking a qualified, visionary full‑time Imam to lead our community in spiritual growth, religious guidance, and Islamic education. The Imam will work closely with the Executive Board, committees, and volunteers to unite and empower our diverse community, Insha’Allah.

To cultivate a vibrant, spiritually elevated, and unified Ummah in Peoria that nurtures strong Muslim families, empowers the next generation, and serves as a beacon of authentic Islamic guidance, Dawah, and civic excellence.

• Mission:

The Imam will lead ICP in fulfilling its religious and social potential by delivering authentic guidance according to the Noble Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as understood by the Righteous Predecessors (Salaf as-Salih). He will foster an inclusive environment for all cultural backgrounds, mentor youth and children, and mobilize the talents of our community to build a thriving, self-sustaining Masjid ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Religious Leadership & Worship (Imamah & Ibadah)

• • Lead five daily prayers, Friday, Eid, and lead/facilitate Ramadan Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers.
  • Deliver engaging Khutbahs and regular Halaqahs.
  • Serve as an exemplary role model with good Akhlaq.

2. Education & Spiritual Nurturing (Tarbiyah & Ta’leem)

• • Teach structured Islamic studies (Uloom ul-Quran, Aqeedah, Seerah, Hadith, Fiqh, Tajweed) for adults, youth, and children.
  • Provide spiritual mentorship to children and youth through ICP programs and partnering actively with Daarul Uloom Islamic School and Bradley University MSA.
  • Host guest scholars/speakers.

3. Community Care & Support (Naseeha & Khidmah)

• • Provide confidential Islamic counseling for individuals, couples, families, and youth during regular office hours.
  • Perform Nikah services, pre-marital counseling.
  • Offer Janazah guidance and bereavement support.

4. Community Empowerment & Strategic Vision

• • Provide spiritual oversight for Zakat, Sadaqah, and Udhiya distributions alongside committees.
  • Assist with fundraising to support Community initiatives.
  • Advise the Executive Board on religious affairs and strategic community goals.
  • Encourage community members to leverage their professional talents for Masjid initiatives.

5. Outreach & Civic Engagement (Dawah)

• • Spearhead Dawah initiatives in local schools, churches, correctional centers, and the broader Peoria area.
  • Build relationships and advance mutual understanding within the wider community.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies (Shariah) from a recognized Islamic university. (Master’s or PhD preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an Imam or Assistant Imam in North America.
• Quranic Proficiency: Pleasant Quranic recitation with proper Tajweed; minimum memorization of 10 Juz’ (Hafidh al-Qur’an preferred).
• Language Fluency: Fluent in both English and Arabic (spoken and written).
• Cultural Context: Good understanding of the socio-cultural dynamics, challenges, and perspectives of Muslims living in North America, with a demonstrated ability to connect with children and youth.
• Leadership: Has proven leadership and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, initiative taker, and effective communicator.
• Legal Status: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary commensurate with education, Ijazahs, and experience.
• On-site housing provided on the Masjid campus or competitive housing allowance.

• Paid annual vacations, professional development support, and after-Eid holidays.
• Two days off per week from the Imam duties.
