Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
We pray and hope that you are in the best of Iman and health.
By this time, we should all be well aware of the worldwide health concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has forced us to adjust our lives drastically.
ICP further reminds every one of the obligations to comply with the laws of the land. ICP has had a chance to review the current Executive Order passed by the Governor of the State of Illinois and will be complying with it strictly.
The scholars of Islam have identified certain guidelines which are highly recommended to be followed:
- Individuals suffering from chronic illnesses or lowered immunity are Islamically excused from praying at the masjid. ICP asks that they pray Dhuhr at home or wherever they find themselves at the time of prayer.
- Individuals suffering from any symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough, sore throat, or any other respiratory ailments (or are living with and/or in close proximity with others who have such symptoms) are Islamically excused from praying at the masjid. ICP asks that they pray Dhuhr at home or wherever they find themselves at the time of prayer.
- Individuals fearful that they will infect others, or will be infected by their attendance at the masjid, are highly recommended to pray Dhuhr at home or wherever they find themselves at the time of prayer.
With the aforementioned guidelines, and in compliance with all laws, the Islamic Center of Peoria has instituted the following rules and guidelines for Friday (Jumah) prayers:
- The Islamic Center of Peoria intends to host Jumah Salah on Friday, March 20, 2020. In an effort to be in full compliance with the law, Jumah Salah will be held Insha’Allah at 4 different times with 10 minutes khutbah and 5 minutes Salah.
- In accordance with the Executive Order passed by the Governor of the State of Illinois (Page 2 Section 2) No more than 45 persons will be allowed to attend any specific Jumah Salah. This rule will be strictly enforced.
1. Jumah Salah #1 (45 persons maximum)
1:15 pm Khutbah | 1:25 Iqamah
2. Jumah Salah #2 (45 persons maximum)
1:40 pm Khutbah | 1:50 Iqamah
3. Jumah Salah #3 (45 persons maximum)
2:05 pm Khutbah | 2:15 Iqamah
4. Jumah Salah #4 (45 persons maximum)
2:30 pm Khutbah | 2:40 Iqamah
Once we reach 45 for session, doors will be locked, and next set of people can wait in their cars.
Children under the age of 10 are not permitted to attend during Friday prayers until further notice.
Please Note Additional Regulations/Requirements for each of those who plan to attend:
- Perform your wudu at home before arriving for Salah.
- Maintain social distancing of 6 feet while listening to khutba and praying Jumah.
- Do not make physical contact such as hugging or shaking hands.
- Disposable sajda mats have been arranged at ICP. You are encouraged to bring your Prayer Rugs/Mats and use them. Try not to share your prayer rugs with those not in your household.
- In following the tradition of the Prophet (sas), pray the Sunnah prayers after Jumah Salah at home.
- You are required to leave immediately after Salah. Socializing after Salah is strictly prohibited.
As the situation is currently in flux, please understand that the laws are rapidly changing. We will continue to update the community as the matter develops. All Jumah Salah are subject to cancellation, at any time, based on the law.
Jazak Allahu Khaira
